Detention Center The Brookings County Detention Center offers Video Visitation in the Detention Center Public Lobby Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours ahead of time, on the Reliance Telephone Website, no exceptions.

News Release: On Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, the Brookings Police Department arrested Timothy A. Heaton, age 59, of Brookings for five felony counts of cruelty to animals. The arrest followed an investigation that resulted in five German Shepherds being seized from a residence located in the 1000 block of Third Street.
